Ceramic handmade dinner plates fired in a wood-burning kiln are plates that are crafted by hand using clay, and are then fired in a wood-burning kiln. The process of making these plates begins with selecting the clay, which is then shaped and molded into the desired plate shape.
Once the plates are formed, they go through a process called bisque firing, which is done at a lower temperature and is the first firing of the plate. After the bisque firing, the plates are glazed and then fired again in a wood kiln. This final firing process is called glaze firing.
A wood kiln uses wood as its primary fuel source and creates a lot of ash and fire during the firing process. This ash and fire can settle on the plates, creating unique patterns and textures on the surface of the plates. The final plates have a rustic, earthy aesthetic that is highly prized for its natural beauty.
The plates are also durable and microwave and dishwasher safe. They make a great addition to any table setting and can be used for both everyday and special occasions. Because they are handmade, each plate is unique and may vary in size, shape, and glaze.
